Abstract
The purpose of this study is to observe the histopathologic, and histochemic alterations induced in developing oral mucosa following intravenous injection of the cytosine arabinoside to the maternal body-.
For this study, 23 female albino rats, weighing 2006^(g) or more were used and divided into two froups, experimental : 20 rats, control group : 3 rats.
After gestation of all the rats, the experimental animal group were intravenously injected on tai with cytosine arabinoside at a dose of 50^(㎍)/(㎏) body- weight, on 7th, 9th, 11th, 13th day after gestation.
Ali the fetus, experimental animal group 100, control animal group 29 : were sacrified on
21th day after gestation just before delivery.
All the specimens were fixed in 10016 neutral formalin solution and embedded in paraffin, section. All the samples were stained with the various method which were hematoxylin-eosin, toluidine blue, periodic acid- Schiff-alcian blue.
Following results were obtained
1. In exp.-rimenatal group, it was noticed that atrophic basal cells with pyknotic nuclei on 7th, 9th day injection group and markedly increased on 1ith day injection group.
2. In experimental group, vacuolization was appeared on basal cell layer and increased on stratum spinosum., and stratum granulosum.
3. In experimental group, cytosine arabinoside injection did not affected keratinization of epithelium.
4. In experimental group, it was noticed that on PAS-alcian blue reaction, diffuse alcian blue reaction on surface of mucose membrane, lamina propria and moderate PAS reaction on intermediate layer of mucous membrane.
